The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Kansas Leadership Center (KLC) to create stronger, healthier, more prosperous communities. We know it is risky and challenging work. The mission of the KLC is to foster civic leadership for healthier Kansas communities, and their core objectives are to inspire, educate, and connect communities.

Leadership Emporia and KLC envision bringing social capital (the capacity of people to work together across boundaries), which should grow significantly in the state and finally the civic culture of Kansas towns, cities, and regions should be transformed in ways that support adaptive work through collaborative civic engagement. Leadership Emporia is open to anyone either from Emporia or the surrounding area interested in wanting to learn more about exercising leadership on deep daunting, adaptive changes.

Leadership Emporia begins with a two-day opening retreat followed by five sessions. During these sessions participants will explore the KLC Leadership Competencies of Diagnosing the Situation, Energizing Others, Managing Self, and Intervening Skillfully. Participants must attend all sessions in order to graduate.
