Chamber Announces 2017 Christmas Parade Date and Theme

EMPORIA, KAN. – The Christmas Parade Committee of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau announces that the 40th annual community Christmas Parade will be held downtown on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.  The inclement weather date is on Thursday, November 30, 2017.

This year’s theme is “Night of Lights.” We see many different decorations and Christmas lights during the holiday season. How can your family, organization, church, sports team, etc. utilize Christmas lights?

Area businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to participate in the 2017 Christmas Parade. The evening will begin with a dedication and lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Trusler Business Center office at 719 Commercial Street. Festivities include a Christmas message, musical performances, and a lighting ceremony performed by City of Emporia Mayor Jon Geitz. The Parade will begin at 7:00 p.m. at 4th Avenue, and proceed up Commercial Street to 12th Avenue.

Entry forms for the Christmas Parade can be picked up at the Chamber office in the Trusler Business Center, 719 Commercial, or can be printed from the Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau Web site, www.emporiakschamber.org. Once the form is printed and completed, it can be faxed to the Chamber office at 342-3223, or mailed or hand-delivered to the Chamber office at 719 Commercial Street.
