Chamber to Host Legislative Dialogue

EMPORIA, KAN. – The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce Government Matters Committee and the League of Women Voters will host a candidate forum for the upcoming election.

Candidates running for Emporia City Commission and USD # 253 Board of Education have been invited to participate in a forum on Monday, March 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Flint Hills Technical College, 3301 W. 18th Ave.

Those running for Emporia City Commission include: Rob Gilligan, Steve Harmon, Christian Keisler, Delores Mendoza, Bobbi Mlynar, and Kelly Wade.

Candidates running for USD # 253 Board of Education include: Susan Brinkman, Shilo Good, Art Gutierrez, Michael Helbert, Iona Moore, and Grant Riles.

Individuals that are not able to attend the forum on Monday are encouraged to attend the Emporia Main Street Candidate Debate on Thursday, March 26.

The election will be held on Tuesday, May 7. Early voting begins on Monday, March 23.

The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization of 450 area businesses that join forces to accomplish collectively what no one business could do individually. The mission of the Chamber is to be proactive in creating an environment for business and community success. The organization is currently focusing on business advocacy and development, and leadership and membership development.
