COVID 19 Vaccination Update from Lyon County Public Health

Lyon County Public Health is currently scheduling everyone who qualifies in Phase 2 for this Friday’s vaccination clinic. That includes those who work in retail. We are defining “retail” in the broadest sense, anyone who works in a business that sells a good or service. Other individuals that qualify in Phase 2 are those who are 65 or older, K-12 school employees and childcare workers, food processing plant workers, those in congregate settings, home care givers, transportation workers, grocery story and food service workers. Starting Monday, March 22, Governor Kelly has announced that we will be moving into Phases 3 and 4 simultaneously. This opens up vaccine availability to nearly everyone 18 and older.

We implore businesses to encourage their employees to take advantage of this vaccine availability. Getting the vaccine takes approximately 30 minutes. According to the CDC, fully vaccinated people can gather indoors with other fully vaccinated people without wearing a mask, gather indoors with unvaccinated people from one other household without masks, and will not have to quarantine if exposed to someone with COVID-19. Vaccinations are the quickest way to get our economy back to normal, while keeping staff, co-workers, and friends healthy and productive.
