EMPORIA, KAN. – The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce along with Hostess will hold the fifth annual Twinkies Festival from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 14 at the Lyon County Fairgrounds off of Industrial Rd.
There will be a variety of activities and games at the festival for all ages. The day will kick off with a 5K race, participants can pre-register or register the day of the race beginning at 8 a.m. and registration is $25 pre-race and $30 the day of the race. Children 12 and under may enter the race at no charge. T-shirts and participation medals are available on a first come, first serve basis.
This is the second year the event will offer a Box Car Derby, for $20 children ages 5 to 15 may participate in the race, instructions on building a car are available on the EACC website: https://emporiakschamber.org/twinkies-festival-boxcar-derby/. The Box Car Derby will be at Emporia State University this year. Back by popular demand, the festival will offer a Twinkies Eating Contest for children and adults. There is no charge to enter the eating contest. All ages can also enter the free Twinkies Costume Contest, so put together your sweetest Hostess-related getup and enter today!
