37th Annual Community Christmas Parade Tuesday, December 2, 2014!
EMPORIA, KAN. – The Christmas Parade Committee of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau would like to remind everyone that the 37th Annual Community Christmas Parade will be held downtown on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. The inclement weather date is on Thursday, December 2, 2014.
This year’s theme is “Holly-Dazzle.” How does your family, business, organization or sports team celebrate the holidays with a little Holiday Dazzle?
This year’s Parade Marshall is Bill Heins whom will have the honor of leading the parade. Bill is more than deserving of this honor since he has helped behind the scenes with the Christmas parade for 35 years!
The 2014 Christmas Parade Chairman is Brent Windsor.
Mrs. Santa will be at this years Christmas parade from 5:30 to 7 p.m. handing out candy canes and collecting letters to Santa. Mrs. Santa will be located inside the 1st floor of the Kress Center, 702 Commercial.
The evening will begin with a dedication and lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Cable ONE office at 714 Commercial. Festivities include a Christmas message, musical performances, and a lighting ceremony performed by City of Emporia Mayor Jon Geitz. The Parade will begin at 7:00 p.m. at 4th Avenue, and proceed up Commercial Street to 12th Avenue.
The parade will be broadcast live on Channel 2 (ValuNet Customers), Channel 70 (CableONE Customers) and on emporiagazette.com.
