Leadership Emporia

33rd Class

The Emporia Chamber has proudly offered Leadership Emporia Academy since 1989, and has over 350 alumni from 32 classes.  In order to grow our communities, we must mobilize others to inspire a collective purpose for the common good. It takes individuals, businesses, and organizations to adapt to what is happening around them in order to survive.  Leadership Emporia Academy give participants the tools to address the adaptive issues they are facing in life, and the courage to make progress on what they care about the most.

Leadership Emporia Academy IS: 1) Learning skills and techniques to work with others, across factions, to create an environment for the better. 2) A program to engage the unusual voices that are often not heard. 3) About being challenged to ask and answer tough questions about ourselves and our communities. 4) Learning through powerful experiences that provide conceptual frameworks, skills, tools, and ways of being consistent with a more purposeful and collaborative leadership approach.

Leadership Emporia Academy IS NOT: 1) Networking, although you will make great connections that will benefit you for years to come. 2) Learning about Emporia, although you will learn about the community. 3) The program it was when it started in 1989.

Because of COVID-19, Leadership Emporia will be adapting to the times, and making necessary modifications to the program without compromising the effectiveness.  It will go from a two-day opening retreat to one-day, followed by five half day sessions. (normally full day sessions) our class size will be smaller and all proper safety precautions will be taken including requiring masks, social distancing, and sanitation. During these sessions’ participants will explore the framework of adaptive leadership.

We look forward to receiving your application. If you have any questions, please contact Jeanine McKenna at the Chamber office; 719 Commercial in the Trusler Business Center, calling (620)342-1600 or email her at jmckenna@emporiakschamber.org.

Sincerely,
