The Emporia Area Chamber Foundation is pleased to announce they are recipients of the Capital Projects Fund Accelerator Award in the amount of $1,756,759.00. This grant opportunity was made possible by the U.S. Treasury received by the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund.
Factors influencing funding recommendations of this grant include alignment with the requirement of the capital projects, included but not limited to the ability to enable work, education, health monitoring, and access to broadband with a child care component. This includes the purchase of the Maynard School, and phase one of construction. “We are honored to have been chosen as a recipient of these funds and are thankful to play a role in bringing quality childcare that meets the needs of our families to Emporia and its surrounding area. We can wait to get started,” remarked Michelle Margeson, Director of Ignite Emporia.
Dr. Erika Martin, Associate Professor, of Aquatic ecology and biology education and grant writer, said, “ I am humbled by the support and enthusiasm for this project, and excited to continue to aid the coalition in this endeavor.
